Complete your character journals and have them turned in before you leave class on Friday.
Journals should be analysis on the 4 main characters (Stanley, Blanche, Stella, and Mitch) through EACH scene. So you should have 11 entries on Blanche, 11 on Stella, etc... Drama - A literary genre consisting of works which are written to be performed by actors before an audience.
- Ex: A Streetcar Named Desire, Romeo and Juliet, Death of a Salesman Tragedy - A type of drama in which the characters experience a reversal of fortunes, usually for the worse. Catastrophe and suffering await many of the characters, especially the hero. - Ex: Oedipus Rex, Othello, Antigone, Romeo and Juliet Tragic Flaw - A weakness or limitation of a characters, resulting in the fall of the tragic hero. Conflict – A struggle between opposing forces in a story or play, usually resolved by the end. Climax – A turning point that represents the greatest tension in the work. Idiom - An expression that means something other than the literary meaning. - Ex: "It's raining cats and dogs!" |
